CALL FOR THE HIRING OF A BIOSTATISTICIAN RESEARCHER FOR THE IMDEA FOOD FOUNDATION (PROJECT: " PID2023-150271NB-C22 ")
IMDEA Nutrition Institute (Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies in Food) adheres to the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researcher.
The IMDEA Nutrition Institute is a research institution created by the Madrid Regional Government in coordination with universities, research centers of Madrid, and enterprises. Constituted as a non-profit organization within the framework of the IV Regional Plan for Scientific Research and Technological Innovation (IV PRICIT), it is conceived - structurally and legally - with the aim of bringing research into society.
IMDEA Nutrition Institute is committed to excellence in research and to foster technology transfer to the industrial sector in a truly international environment. More information about the research and scope of the activities of IMDEA Nutrition Institute can be found at the institute webpage
The contract is part of grant PID2023-150271NB-C22, funded by MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/FEDER, EU, where: PID2023-150271NB-C22 is the grant reference indicated in the award resolution; MICIU is the acronym for the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities; AEI is the acronym for the State Research Agency; 10.13039/501100011033 is the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) of the agency; and FEDER, EU is the acronym for the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union.
IMDEA Nutrition is part of the Network of Madrid Institutes for Advanced Studies, promoted by the Community of Madrid with the aim of conducting research that is useful to society and of international scientific excellence. Within this framework, project PID2023-150271NB-C22, entitled “BRAINT – Characterisation of Brain–Gut Profiles and Relationships through Resting-State EEG Activity and the Gut Microbiota”, is being carried out and requires qualified research personnel for its proper implementation.
The project "BRAINT – Characterization of BRAin-INTestine profiles and relationships through resting EEG activity and gut microbiota" (ref. PID2023-150271NB-C22), whose Principal Investigator is Dr. María Jesús Latasa Sada, is an observational clinical study in healthy adults. It combines resting-state EEG recording, gut microbiota sequencing and a neuropsychological paradigm. The project has a dual anchoring: its scientific anchor is the "Microbiota–gut–brain axis" research line of the Brain Health Research Programme, and its implementation anchor is the Clinical Trials Platform in Nutrition and Precision Health, specifically its biomarker identification and validation line.
The biostatistician/bioinformatician researcher will work within the BRAINT project (Ref. PID2023-150271NB-C22).
Main functions:
- Biostatistical/bioinformatic analysis of resting-state EEG and gut microbiota data: preprocessing, quality control, normalization and feature extraction.
- Development and validation of statistical and AI/Machine Learning models for brain-gut profiles and relationships, using supervised and unsupervised methods.
- Multimodal integration of neurophysiological, microbiological and other study variables; feature selection/dimensionality reduction and model interpretation.
- Reproducible workflows in Python/R, data/database management, documentation, version control and analysis automation.
- Use of digital agents as catalysts for analytical processes.
- Interpretation of results and preparation of reports, figures, scientific manuscripts and technical documentation.
